Wainwright, AB Arts Festival LOCAL ARTISTS WANTED - 2006/09/13 13:13
LOCAL ARTISTS WANTED
Local Artists to the Wainwright, AB area are encouraged to bring forth art pieces in support of The 1st Annual Wainwright Arts Festival, November 27 to December 2. The Wainwright Arts Festival, presented by Star News Inc., will utilize five local venues:
Visual Arts (with a show and sale) Theatrical Arts, Musical Arts Literary Arts Film.
Five subcommittees have been formed to decide exactly what each display will look like, and with the ideas generated by the committee it looks as if the event will be one to remember. As part of the promotion that Star News will take part in to bring the festival to the community, local artists will have their art out in the community.
The Film Commitee is asking for a five to ten minute film, in either VHS, DVD or AVI format, needs to be submitted to one of the sub-committee members prior to November 11th (Rememberance Day) to be screened prior to the festival. There is no specific theme for the topics of the films, but the sub-committee has asked that only videos by local residents be submitted.
The visual arts committee is looking for artists that are willing to take part in the show and sale. This is an open call for local artists to come and showcase their work. We need to hear from you, the artists, as soon as possible to include you in the promotion, “Show us your stuff!”
These five different areas of the arts will be working together to bring Wainwright an arts festival that will evolve over time. We’re looking for a good response from the public and the arts community. We all know that our area has many talented people. This arts festival week will show the public just how talented they all are Bringing the arts to the community is what the arts is all about, showing off your talent.”
Anyone interested in taking part in the festival are encouraged to contact myself, Max Gilchuk at 842-4465, or email me at max@starnews.ca
